# Auto sell

How to set up and manage Auto sell orders

### What is Auto Sell?

Auto Sell lets you set a price target for a coin and walk away. When the coin hits that target, your Auto Sell triggers and sells all of that coin for USDC, a digital dollar. No need to stare at a chart waiting for the right moment.\
\
Once you set one up, your order is live for 30 days, or until it fills, whichever comes first. You can check on it, change it, or cancel it anytime before then.

#### Example

* You hold $100 of a Solana coin called JUP.
* You set an Auto Sell at +50%.
* Two weeks later, JUP is up 50%. Your Auto Sell triggers and sells for about $150 in USDC, minus fees.
* If JUP doesn’t reach +50% within 30 days, nothing sells, and your JUP stays in your wallet.\ *Hypothetical numbers, for illustration only. Not a recommendation to buy or sell any coin.*

### Setting up an Auto sell order

1. **Open a coin you're holding.** Find it in Holdings or search for it.
2. **Tap Sell, then tap Set up in the Auto Sell section.**
3. **Choose how much you want to sell.** Enter an amount, or use the 25% / 50% / 75% / MAX shortcuts.
4. **Pick your price target.** Choose a preset (+25%, +50%, +100%) or tap Custom to set your own.
5. **Review the transaction.**
6. **Swipe to submit.** Your Auto Sell is now active.

You’ll get a notification when it fills, fails, or expires.

### Managing an active order

#### Viewing your order

Tap into any active Auto Sell order below the coin’s page or in your Activity to see its status, quantity, current price, price target, when it was placed, and when it expires.

#### Adjusting an order

Want a different target? No need to cancel and start over. Instead:

1. Open the active order
2. Tap Edit order
3. Choose your new target and tap Save. Your new target replaces the old one right away.

#### Canceling an order

1. Click on the active Auto Sell order
2. Choose Cancel Order&#x20;
3. Swipe to confirm

Canceling may involve a network fee, since it takes a blockchain transaction to pull your order back.

**Heads up:** if the market hits your price target while you're in the middle of canceling, your coins may already be sold before the cancellation goes through. If that happens, you'll see a "Couldn't be canceled" message; your order did what it was set up to do, just a second before your cancel request landed.

{% hint style="info" %}
Tips:&#x20;

* There is a $1 minimum for an Auto sell order&#x20;
* Orders stay active for 30 days. If your target isn't hit in that window, the order expires automatically, and your coins stay put.
* If you place a market sell while you have an Auto Sell open, you can still sell your full position. Your open order doesn't lock up any of your balance.
* Market conditions can affect the exact price you get when an order fills.
  {% endhint %}

#### FAQs

<details>

<summary>Can I cancel? </summary>

Yes. Swipe to cancel anytime and approve with your passkey.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I set a target below what I paid?</summary>

Yes, as long as it’s above the current price. That’s still a take-profit from today’s price, not a stop-loss.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if my target was already hit when I set it?</summary>

Set a new price target.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Does Moonshot hold my coins?</summary>

No. Your coins stay in your wallet until the order fills.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://support.moonshot.com/trade/auto-sell.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
