# Avoiding scams

### What is phishing?

Phishing websites and dApps (decentralized applications) try to trick users into giving up their sign-in credentials or other sensitive information, allowing scammers to take control of their accounts or wallets. These attackers often use emails, text messages, social media, and search-engine ads to make their sites appear legitimate.

### What is a giveaway scam?

Scammers often run fake giveaway promotions on social media. They post screenshots claiming to be from companies or executives and link to fraudulent websites or private chats. They also use fake accounts to comment and make the scam look legitimate. These sites will then ask you to “verify” your wallet by sending cryptocurrency, money you will never get back.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Moonshot Support will never ask you for your login code or your secret phrase.
{% endhint %}

### What are airdrop coins?

An airdrop is when the team behind a new coin sends free coins to your wallet to promote their project. Some airdrops are legitimate and part of a coin’s release plan. However, if you didn’t request the airdrop or if it includes instructions that send you to links outside the app, it may be fraudulent.

{% endhint %}

\ <br>

# Fund storage

Moonshot is a self-custody blockchain wallet app. You can create an account by signing up with an email and passkey (using Touch ID, Face ID, or a passcode).\
\
When you create an account, Moonshot creates an embedded wallet on each supported blockchain for your account using our Multi-Party Computation infrastructure partner, [Turnkey.com](https://turnkey.com/). Because the wallets are self-custodial, only you can authorize transactions with your passkey. To learn more about this architecture, please visit [https://docs.turnkey.com](https://docs.turnkey.com/).

You’re responsible for securing your private keys through your recovery phrase (also known as a seed phrase, and which will allow you to recover your wallet, but will also allow anyone who has it to access your crypto, so keep it safe). Moonshot will never know or have access to your private keys or recovery phrase. That also means Moonshot can not help you recover lost or forgotten keys or seed phrases. &#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important Note:** Moonshot will never know or have access to your private keys or recovery phrase. That also means Moonshot can not help you recover lost or forgotten keys or seed phrases. Moonshot can not access your funds and can never freeze, transfer, or recover them on your behalf.
{% endhint %}

# Login issues

Occasionally, you may get an error when trying to register for a new account on Moonshot that says "An error occurred in the cloud." This may happen for a few reasons:

1. **Your email was flagged as temporary or spam**

   If our systems flag your email as a fake, temporary, spam, or alias email, you will not be able to use it on our platform. This is for security reasons and to prevent abuse. Using the "Hide my email" feature on iOS counts as a temporary email and is not allowed.
2. **You are in an unsupported region**&#x20;

   If you open the app in a region Moonshot does not support on the App Store or Google Play, you will not be able to register or sign in.
3. **You need to enable biometrics**&#x20;

   Make sure your device OS is updated to the most recent version and that you have biometrics, including Touch ID or Face ID, enabled in your device settings. Moonshot requires biometrics to sign you in securely: we never store or directly access your biometric data.
4. **You need to reinstall the app**&#x20;

   If you are signing in to an existing account and stuck getting the error "Please enable Touch ID or Face ID" even though you have those enabled, please delete the app and reinstall to try again.

# Cross-chain crypto deposits

You can now deposit crypto from other networks directly into Moonshot with no manual bridging or swapping required. Send coins like ETH, BTC, USDT, and more. Moonshot automatically converts them into cash (USDC) or SOL.

#### What is a cross-chain deposit? <a href="#what-is-it" id="what-is-it"></a>

With cross-chain deposits, you can send coins from networks like Ethereum, BNB Chain, and others directly to your Moonshot wallet. The conversion happens automatically behind the scenes, so your funds arrive ready to trade.

#### What you receive

When your deposit arrives, Moonshot converts it to one of the following. You choose which during the deposit flow.

**💵 Cash (USDC)**

* Your deposit is converted to USDC, a stablecoin fully backed by cash equivalents.

**◎ Solana (SOL)**

* Your deposit is converted to SOL, the native coin of the Solana network.

#### Fees

Fees depend on what's needed to get your deposit into your wallet.\
\
If you're sending a coin that's already on Solana — like USDT, USDC, or SOL — there's no bridging involved, just a swap. The fee is \~0.1%.\
\
If your deposit needs to be bridged from another network — like sending ETH from Ethereum or BNB from BNB Smart Chain — the fee is \~0.25%.\
\
A few examples:<br>

* **USDT on Solana → USDC:** \~0.1% fee (swap only)
* **ETH on Ethereum → USDC:** \~0.25% fee (bridge + swap)
* **USDC on Solana → USDC:** no fee

{% hint style="warning" %}
Depositing an amount below the minimum cannot be recovered until you transfer an amount that exceeds the minimum. Then, your total deposits will be credited to your wallet.
{% endhint %}

### &#x20;How to make a cross-chain deposit

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### **Go to Holdings → Deposit**

Select `Crypto` from the Payment Methods drop-down.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### **Choose what to convert it to**

Select `Cash (USDC)` or `Solana (SOL)`. Your deposit will be converted to whichever you choose.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### **Choose the coin you want to send**

Select which coin and network you're sending from.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### **Copy your deposit address or scan the QR**

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### **Send from your external wallet**

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### **Wait for confirmation**

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Send on the correct network.** Each deposit address is specific to a coin and its network. For example, your USDC deposit address shown as "on Solana" only accepts USDC sent over the Solana network. Sending the wrong coin or using the wrong network may result in permanent loss of funds. Always double-check before sending.
{% endhint %}

# Troubleshooting

You can deposit on Moonshot using a variety of payment methods. While most transactions are processed quickly, in rare cases, there may be delays or issues verifying your identity or processing a payment.

{% hint style="info" %}
All fiat payments are processed by our licensed on-ramp partners. Moonshot is a self-custody wallet app, not an exchange, and never directly handles custody of user funds.
{% endhint %}

### Why isn't my deposit showing up?

1. **Your bank isn't approving the transaction. Please call your bank and ensure** they aren't blocking the transaction.
2. **Our servers are experiencing delays:** In extremely rare cases, our servers may experience delays in receiving data from the blockchain about your deposit. If you do not see your funds in the app within 15 minutes of the transaction finalizing, please contact our support team.

### I sent coins from another wallet, but it isn't showing up <a href="#h_ada87f0bcf" id="h_ada87f0bcf"></a>

If you deposit cryptocurrency by sending it to your Moonshot wallet, it will instantly appear in the app once the transaction is finalized. If it doesn't, a few things might have happened:

1. **You sent an unsupported cryptocurrency:** Moonshot only shows certain cryptocurrencies in your wallet that pass our fraud and security screening. If they aren't showing in the app, your funds are still safe, and you can directly access them by exporting your secret phrase in **Settings** > **Export Keys** > **Secret phrase** and importing it into another wallet app.
2. **You are using an unsupported blockchain network:** Moonshot currently only supports deposits on the Solana blockchain.

***

## Contacting payment providers

See [Providers](/get-started/deposit/providers) for payment provider contact information.

#### **When contacting the on-ramp provider, make sure to have the following information ready:**

* Transaction ID (If you do not have a valid transaction ID, this indicates the transaction was not processed onchain and the coins were not sent to your wallet yet.)
* Moonshot wallet address
* Date and time of the transaction
* Coin name
* Amount purchased

#### **Having problems verifying your account, uploading documents, or updating your personal information on an exchange or on-ramp?**&#x20;

* Contact their customer support team directly for help. Moonshot cannot assist with issues on external platforms.

{% hint style="info" %}
This does not affect your Moonshot account; you will still be able to buy, sell, receive, and send crypto as usual.
{% endhint %}

{% endhint %}

# Troubleshooting

You can withdraw on Moonshot using a variety of payment methods. While most transactions are processed quickly, in rare cases, there may be delays or issues verifying your identity or processing a payment.

{% hint style="info" %}
All fiat payments are processed by our licensed on-ramp partners. Moonshot is a self-custody wallet app, not an exchange, and never directly handles custody of user funds.
{% endhint %}

### Why isn't my withdrawal showing up?

1. **Your bank isn't approving the transaction:** Please contact your bank and make sure they aren't blocking the transaction.
2. **Our partners are experiencing delays:** In extremely rare cases, our partners may experience delays in receiving data from the blockchain about your withdrawal. If you do not see your funds within 5 days of the transaction finalizing, please contact our support team.

### I sent coins to another wallet, but it isn't showing up <a href="#h_ada87f0bcf" id="h_ada87f0bcf"></a>

If you withdrew your funds by sending it to another wallet, it should instantly show up when the transaction is finalized. If it doesn't, a few things might have happened:

#### **Sent to an unsupported cryptocurrency**

Some exchange wallets only support specific coins on the networks they are sent on. In some cases, if you’re sending USDC, you must send it to a wallet specifically designed to receive USDC on the same network.&#x20;

For example, even if USDC exists on the Solana network, you cannot send it to a general Solana wallet that doesn’t explicitly support USDC. Many exchange wallets operate this way, so always double-check that the wallet you’re sending to supports the specific coin and network combination to avoid losing funds.

#### &#x20;**Sent to the wrong wallet address**

If you send funds to an unsupported or incorrect address, they may be permanently lost.

***

## Contacting payment providers

See [Providers](/get-started/deposit/providers) for payment provider contact information.

#### **When contacting the off-ramp provider, make sure to have the following information ready:**

* Transaction ID (If you do not have a valid transaction ID, this indicates the transaction was not processed on chain and the coins were not sent to your wallet yet.)
* Moonshot wallet address
* Date and time of the transaction
* Coin name
* Amount purchased

#### **Having problems verifying your account, uploading documents, or updating your personal information on an exchange or off-ramp?**&#x20;

* Contact their customer support team directly for help. Moonshot cannot assist with issues on external platforms.

{% hint style="info" %}
This does not affect your Moonshot account; you will still be able to buy, sell, receive, and send crypto as usual.
{% endhint %}

# Bitcoin & crypto

### What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin (BTC) is a digital currency created in 2009 by a person using the alias ‘Satoshi Nakamoto'. While governments issue normal money, Bitcoin is “decentralized”, meaning no one and nothing can control it. It works through a technology called blockchain, which is a public digital ledger that records every transaction made, ensuring security and transparency.

### What is the blockchain?

The blockchain is like a digital notebook that records all transactions securely and transparently. It’s made up of something called “blocks", each containing a list of recent transactions, and once a block is full, it’s linked to the previous one, creating a chain. Since the blockchain is stored across thousands of computers worldwide, it's nearly impossible to change past records, which helps prevent fraud and keeps the system safe and trustworthy.

### What are SOL and ETH?

Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH) are two of the most popular cryptocurrencies on the blockchain, each designed for different purposes and trading at varying prices. At the same time, ETH was the first network to have something called “smart contracts”, which is like a computer program that automatically does what it’s told, like sending money or unlocking something, when specific rules are met.&#x20;

The Solana network is regarded as faster, low-cost, and designed to support decentralized applications and cryptocurrencies. It uses a system called "Proof of History" to speed up transactions, enabling it to process thousands per second with very low fees.&#x20;

### How are these available on Moonshot?

While all cryptocurrencies exist on blockchain networks, they are not all on the same network. Moonshot only supports tokens on the **Solana network**. However, we also offer wrapped versions of both ETH and BTC; these are tokens created on the Solana network that maintain an approximate 1:1 value with the original coins on their native networks.<br>

# Memecoins

### What are memes?

Memes are short-form content, like images, videos, or phrases, that spread quickly online. They typically convey humor, irony, or shared cultural meaning and are often remixed or repurposed by different communities.&#x20;

Whether it’s a viral tweet, a TikTok sound, or classic artwork like Pepe the Frog, memes travel fast and evolve with each new context or twist.

### What should I know about internet culture and memes?

Memes play a big role in how people communicate online. Platforms like Twitter (X), Reddit, Instagram, and TikTok act as launchpads for meme trends, turning simple jokes into popular cultural references. Some memes fade quickly, while others stick around for years and shape how people express themselves online.

Over time, memes have moved beyond just entertainment. They’ve become tools for commentary, identity, and in some cases, monetization.

### What is a memecoin?

A memecoin is a cryptocurrency that’s driven more by internet culture and hype than by utility or tech. They often start as jokes, but can explode in value purely from community momentum, social media hype, and viral trends.

The most well-known example is Dogecoin, which began as a parody of crypto culture using the Shiba Inu “Doge” meme. Despite the joke origins, Dogecoin and many others have built large communities and serious market caps, sometimes worth more than publicly traded companies.

Other notable coins, such as Pepe and Fartcoin, have gained popularity and billions in market cap.

### Summary:

* Memes are viral, shareable pieces of internet culture.
* Memecoins are cryptocurrencies that leverage memes for attention and community growth.
* While often launched for fun, memecoins can gain real momentum and market value.
* Memecoins have no intrinsic value and investing can carry significant risk.

# Tokenized equities

### Tokenized equities 101

Think of tokenized equities as gaining exposure to the world's most popular stocks without the traditional barriers of legacy financial systems.

Let's break it down: Imagine you want exposure to Apple's stock price movements, but you don't want to deal with traditional brokers, lengthy settlement times, or geographic restrictions. With tokenized equities, you can establish that position directly onchain!

### The key things that make tokenized equities special:

1. No brokers: Self-direct your trades on [Jupiter’s](https://jup.ag/swap?sell=EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v\&buy=So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112) decentralized exchange using the Moonshot front-end
2. No borders: Access global markets seamlessly from anywhere (where legally permitted, subject to eligibility requirements)
3. Fractional trading: Buy portions of expensive stocks rather than whole shares
4. Self-custodied: You maintain control of your assets in your own wallet
5. 1:1 backing: Each tokenized equity is fully backed by the underlying stock, though you do not own the underlying equity

**Here's an example**: Say Apple stock (AAPL) is trading at $180 per share.

* You want $500 worth of Apple exposure
* Instead of buying 2.77 shares through a traditional broker, you can buy $500 worth of AAPLx tokens
* Your AAPLx tokens move 1:1 with Apple's stock price
* If Apple goes up 10% to $198, your $500 position becomes worth $550
* You can trade, hold, or transfer your AAPLx tokens just like any other cryptocurrency

The beauty is in the simplicity: traditional stock exposure with all the benefits of decentralized finance.

### Available assets

Trade tokenized versions of the world's most popular stocks:

Individual Stocks:

* QQQx (Invesco QQQ Trust)
* SPYx (SPDR S\&P 500 ETF)

ETFs:

* AAPLx (Apple)
* TSLAx (Tesla)
* NVDAx (Nvidia)
* GOOGLx (Google)
* METAx (Meta)
* COINx (Coinbase)
* CRCLx (Circle)
* MSTRx (MicroStrategy)

### How to trade tokenized equities

#### Getting Started:

1. Connect your wallet to Moonshot's interface
2. Navigate to the Tokenized Equities section
3. Select the asset you want to trade (e.g., AAPLx for Apple exposure)&#x20;
4. Enter the amount you wish to trade

Click buy, and your trade is automatically executed on Jupiter’s decentralized protocol.

#### Placing orders:

When you place a trade through Moonshot's interface, you're trading directly on [Jupiter Exchange](https://jup.ag/swap?sell=EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v\&buy=So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112). Your order executes at the best available price, and any unfilled portion is automatically canceled.

#### Managing your positions:

Your tokenized equity holdings appear in your connected wallet just like any other cryptocurrency. You can:

* Hold them for long-term exposure
* Trade them for other assets
* Transfer them to other wallets
* Use them in other DeFi protocols (where supported)

### Key benefits:

True Ownership: Your tokenized equities live in your wallet. No counterparty risk from brokers or custodians.

24/7 Trading: Unlike traditional stock markets with limited hours, you can trade tokenized equities around the clock.

Global Reach: Access exposure to US stock markets from anywhere in the world (subject to local regulations and eligibility requirements).

DeFi Integration: Use your tokenized equities in the broader DeFi ecosystem where protocols support them.<br>

### Who can trade?

Due to regulatory requirements, tokenized equities trading on Moonshot isn't available everywhere. We follow applicable regulations, which means our platform is only open to eligible traders outside of the United States, Canada, UK, and certain other restricted regions.

Using VPNs or other methods to bypass geo-restrictions violates our Terms of Use, so please trade responsibly and in compliance with your local laws. For additional information, see our Tokenized Equities Agreement and Tokenized Equities Risk Disclosure Statement.

### On the move?

Traveling to a Restricted Region

Planning a trip to a place where tokenized equities trading isn't available? No worries.

If you travel to a restricted region:

* Your account switches to view-only mode 👀
* You can still monitor your holdings, but can't execute new trades
* Your existing tokenized equities remain safely in your wallet
* Your funds stay under your control

Think of it like your trading taking a temporary vacation - everything's secure and waiting for you when you return to an eligible region.

Moving Permanently?

If you're relocating permanently to a restricted jurisdiction, please contact our support team at <support@moonshot.money> for guidance on managing your account.

### Understanding the technology

Jupiter Exchange Integration: All tokenized equities trades execute directly on Jupiter's decentralized protocol. Moonshot serves as a user-friendly interface that connects you to Jupiter Exchange - we don't hold, custody, or control your funds.

xStocks Technology: Tokenized equities are powered by [Backed.Fi’s](https://backed.fi/news-updates/xstocks-are-going-live-tokenized-stocks-for-the-defi-era) [xStocks](https://xstocks.com/us) technology, ensuring each token is fully backed 1:1 by the underlying stock or ETF.

### Important considerations

Ownership Rights: When you hold tokenized equities, you gain price exposure to the underlying stocks but do not receive traditional shareholder rights like ownership, voting privileges or direct dividend payments.

Technical Requirements: Trading tokenized equities requires basic familiarity with cryptocurrency wallets, blockchain transactions, and decentralized exchange protocols.

Regulatory Landscape: The regulatory environment for tokenized equities continues to evolve. Stay informed about developments that may affect trading availability in your jurisdiction.

Risk Management: As with any trading activity, only trade with funds you can afford to lose. The combination of cryptocurrency volatility and traditional market risks creates unique considerations for tokenized equity trading.

Risk Disclosure Statement: Please see our Tokenized Equities Risk Disclosure Statement for more information.

### Getting support

For technical questions about trading tokenized equities or accessing your positions, our support team is available at <support@moonshot.money>.

# Bonding

Learn what bonding is, how it works once your coin hits $1M market cap, and what happens after your coin transitions to a full liquidity pool.

Bonding refers to the automatic migration process from a virtual bonding curve pool to a complete liquidity pool. Once a Create coin reaches a $1 million market cap, the bonding process begins.&#x20;

The coin creation fee can only be paid using USDC; using Solana or other currencies will not work.
{% endhint %}

# Send

Learn how to send crypto and memecoins to and from your Moonshot wallet.

Sending and receiving coins with your Moonshot wallet is simple. This guide will walk you through the process of safely transferring coins to other wallets, depositing from external wallets, and managing your transactions with confidence.&#x20;

You’ll also learn essential tips to avoid common mistakes, such as sending to the wrong network or address, and how to check the status of your transactions.

### How to send coins to another wallet from Moonshot&#x20;

To start, Moonshot operates exclusively on the Solana network, which means all transfers to and from your Moonshot wallet must use **Solana-compatible addresses** and be sent over the **Solana Network.**&#x20;

Sending coins over a different blockchain can result in permanent loss of funds.

When sending tokens to another wallet, you have a few options. For example, if you are sending tokens, such as Wrapped Bitcoin, Wrapped Ethereum, Solana, USDC, or USDT, you can make the transfer using the “crypto” withdrawal method.\
\
**Steps using the crypto withdrawal method:**

1. Tap on “crypto” from the list of withdrawal methods&#x20;
2. Select the coin you want to send from the drop-down at the top of the page
3. Enter the amount you would like to send and swipe to continue
4. Paste in the wallet address you want to send to&#x20;
5. Confirm and swipe to complete the transfer

{% hint style="danger" %}
Warning: Exchange wallets typically have an address for each asset. Please ensure you are sending to the proper address. i.e., USDC and SOL may have two different addresses
{% endhint %}

### How to send memecoins to another wallet from Moonshot&#x20;

To transfer **memecoins** to another wallet, find the coin you want to transfer and tap on the “send” button on the token's page.&#x20;

Or select the “send” button from your holdings page, and pick what coin you want to transfer in the drop-down at the top of the page.\
\
**From there, follow these steps:**&#x20;

1. Enter the amount you want to send and swipe to continue
2. Tap on the wallet icon on the right side of the search bar to switch to “wallet mode”
3. Paste in the wallet address you want to send to&#x20;
4. Confirm and swipe to complete the transfer

### Sending via username

You can also send coins directly to a Moonshot username, which will automatically be deposited into the recipient’s wallet.

**To send coins to another Moonshot user with their username:**

1. Tap on the coin you want to send on your holdings page
2. Enter the amount you wish to send and swipe
3. Type or paste in the username of the Moonshot user you wish to send to
4. Confirm and swipe to complete the transfer&#x20;

{% hint style="danger" %}
Sending coins to exchanges that do not support that coin or over a network that is not Solana may result in permanent loss.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Receiving coins to your Moonshot wallet

To receive coins into your Moonshot wallet, first copy your Moonshot wallet address, found at the top of the page when going to **Settings** > **Export Keys**. Paste this address into the external wallet or exchange you’re sending from, and confirm the amount you want to transfer.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Always ensure you’re sending on the **Solana network** and double-check the address before confirming. Transactions on the blockchain can’t be reversed and may result in permanent loss.
{% endhint %}

# Crypto addresses

This article explains the key differences between contract addresses and wallet addresses, helping you understand how each is used on the blockchain.

### What is a contract address?&#x20;

A contract address is like a barcode for a coin. It is the unique identifier on the blockchain where a meme coin’s smart contract is stored. It’s used to verify, track, and interact with that specific coin across wallets, exchanges, and block explorers.

Every coin has a unique contract address associated with it. On Moonshot, these addresses can be used to paste into the search bar to find and trade the coin instantly. They can also be found toward the bottom of the coin’s page, where you can easily copy the coin’s contract address to use at your discretion.&#x20;

**Contract addresses are used solely to track and identify a specific coin.**&#x20;

{% hint style="danger" %}
Contract addresses do not have the same function as a wallet address, **and transferring crypto to a coin’s contract address will result in lost funds that Moonshot cannot reverse.**&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### What is a wallet address?&#x20;

A wallet address is the unique identifier for your personal crypto wallet, where you can send, receive, and store coins. Unlike a contract address, which identifies a specific coin, a wallet address represents you (or more precisely, your crypto holdings) on the blockchain. Think of it like your home address, where people can send things directly to you.

When you create an account with Moonshot, your unique wallet address is minted on the Solana network. You can find your wallet address at the top of the page after navigating to **Settings** > **Export Keys**. It will be a long string of letters and numbers specific to your wallet only.

Your wallet address is used to deposit or withdraw coins, or to receive coins from another person. When transferring cryptocurrency to or from your Moonshot wallet, all transactions must be conducted on the Solana network.&#x20;

{% hint style="danger" %}
Sending crypto to a wallet that isn’t on the Solana network can result in permanent loss of funds, which Moonshot cannot recover.
{% endhint %}

Key difference: Sending coins to a wallet address transfers them to someone’s control. Sending coins to a contract address does not, and in most cases will permanently remove them from circulation. Always double check that you’re sending to a wallet address when transferring funds.<br>

# Troubleshooting

At Moonshot, we make sending funds to other wallets as simple as possible; however, issues may occasionally arise after the funds have been sent.

### Sent to the wrong address

Transactions on the blockchain are irreversible, meaning that if you have sent funds to the wrong wallet, there is nothing Moonshot can do. However, there are steps you can take to ensure your funds are sent to the correct location:

1. Only send to addresses/accounts you know
2. Double-check you have the proper address before you send the funds

### Sent to an unsupported wallet

When funds are sent to a wallet that does not support the network the funds are on, the wallet cannot hold the funds sent to it, and they are permanently lost. Since blockchain transactions are irreversible, Moonshot cannot recover funds sent to an unsupported wallet.

# Verification

Learn how to submit your coin for verification and what criteria are required to maintain verified status.

## How to verify a coin

To submit a coin for verification, please fill out our [public intake form](https://moonshot.com/verification). Submissions are reviewed within one week and verified if they are a good fit. If a coin is verified and its volume or market cap falls substantially below the requirements, or other fraud or abuse is suspected, it may lose its verification status.

{% hint style="info" %}
Submitting the form does not guarantee verification, and the Moonshot team reserves the right to deny any submission for abuse without notice.
{% endhint %}

# Criteria

#### For a coin to be verified, it must:&#x20;

1. Have a minimum $1 million in aggregated rolling 24-hour trading volume.
2. Have a market cap of $1 million or more.
3. Have a strong social or cultural presence.
4. Pass security checks.

{% hint style="info" %}
Verified coins are not endorsed by Moonshot. Only interact with coins you trust. Memecoins have no intrinsic value and are not investments or assets; their prices may be extremely volatile.
{% endhint %}

# Verified vs unverified

## Unverified coins <a href="#h_38c323e881" id="h_38c323e881"></a>

1. Orange warning label: Unverified coins display a clear orange warning at the bottom of their coin page. See below.

   <figure><img src="https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/flia4w7b/1464056247/5713c03d44dde43d02d8338b2247/unverified.jpeg?expires=1745280000&#x26;signature=e70dc7ae941349dd4f6f8282764f716d8ea691fcc4fabf70c64dfb733eface0f&#x26;req=dSQhEsl7m4NbXvMW1HO4zVIuqeuZpnYkClCyYCJ29iS3F%2B38Cs3rsIx7S3Pn%0Az0BH%0A" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
2. Searchable by name, ticker, or contract address You can find unverified coins by searching their name, ticker, or contract address.
3. Automatically indexed High volume coins may be automatically indexed and appear in the Trending, Top Gainers, Top Market Caps, and New categories without being verified.

## Verified coins <a href="#h_2778b44a47" id="h_2778b44a47"></a>

1. No warning label: Verified coins do not display an orange warning.
2. Searchable by name, ticker, or contract address. You can find verified coins by searching their name, ticker, or contract address.

{% hint style="info" %}
Verified coins are not endorsed by Moonshot. Only interact with coins you trust. Memecoins have no intrinsic value and are not investments or assets; their prices may be extremely volatile.
{% endhint %}

# Share

Moonshot allows users to deep-link coins directly from websites or social media so that others can easily click and trade coins directly on Moonshot.

### 1. Search the coin using its contract address <a href="#h_c4e2e9de62" id="h_c4e2e9de62"></a>

Copy the contract address of the coin and paste it into the search bar on Moonshot. Then click the coin to open its details page.

If you paste the coin's contract address and see no results, that means your coin is on an unsupported blockchain, or it was automatically flagged as a scam.

{% hint style="info" %}
Coins do not need to be verified to create deep links. Any coin on the Solana blockchain that passes automated security checks using Blockaid can be traded on Moonshot.

# Official

## What is an "official" coin?&#x20;

The "Official" badge (indicated by a blue checkmark) shows that a coin has a known association with a notable person, brand, or company.

For example, JUP is associated with Jupiter, and cbBTC is associated with Coinbase.

{% hint style="info" %}
The blue checkmark indicates a coin's association with a notable person, brand, or company. It does not indicate Moonshot's verification or endorsement.
{% endhint %}

#### How is "official" status determined

A coin receives the "Official" badge when there is clear public evidence of its association with a notable entity, brand, or individual. This may include:

* Official announcements from the brand, entity, or public figure
* Verifiable connections to established brands or companies
* Documented relationships between the coin and the associated entity

#### What the "official" badge is NOT

It's important to understand what this badge does not represent:

* It is not a verification of the coin's quality or potential
* It is not an endorsement by Moonshot
* It does not guarantee the coin's performance, security, team, etc.

# Packs

Packs, cards, and coins. Here's how they all fit together.

#### What are packs?

When you purchase a pack, you're buying a sealed reward containing a set amount of a memecoin.&#x20;

When you open a pack, you receive a card directly linked with a memecoin deposit into your account. The card is a visual collectible that represents a specific amount of a memecoin held in your Moonshot wallet. The card displays the coin, the rarity of your drop, and the amount you received.

Each card is directly tied to the underlying coins it represents. This means the card and the coins move together. If you transfer the coins, the card goes with them. If you sell the coins, the card is gone.

#### How it works

**1. Purchase a pack:** Choose a pack in the app and complete your purchase. The pack appears sealed until you're ready to open it.

**2. Open and reveal your rarity:** Tap to open the pack. A rarity is drawn instantly. You'll see the reveal animation showing your tier (Common, Rare, Mythical, etc.) and the exact amount of coins you've received.

**3. Your card is minted:** The coins land in your wallet, and a card is added to your collection. The card is a digital record of your drop. It shows the coin, its rarity, and the amount of corresponding coins.

#### Sending coins to friends

You can send the coins from any card directly to another Moonshot user. Here's what happens depending on how much you send:

* **Full amount:** The recipient gets the coins in their wallet and the card in their collection.
* **Partial amount:** The coins go through, but the card is lost. Neither of you will keep it.

**Non Moonshot user**: If your card is sent to a non Moonshot user, it will appear as just the coin and you will lose the card.

#### Selling coins removes your card

Cards are tied to your coin balance and are not separate collectibles you can hold independently. If you sell some or all the coins a card represents, the card is removed from your collection. \
\
Cards that you have pulled previously will still appear in the What's inside page for each relevant Pack, just marked as unlocked, so you can see what you've collected over time.

{% hint style="info" %}
If you have multiple cards of the same coin, we remove your lowest value card first for any sends and sells.
{% endhint %}

# What's inside

Everything you need to know about what you can get from a pack, from tiers and odds to rarities and coin amounts.

#### What's inside a pack?

Each pack contains a randomized amount of a memecoin, determined by your pack's tier and the rarity you land when you open it. No two opens are guaranteed to be the same.

When you purchase a pack, your tier is locked in. When you open it, a rarity is drawn instantly. That rarity, combined with your tier, determines exactly how many coins land in your wallet.

#### Pack tiers

Choose from 7 packs, each with its own odds and rewards.

# Troubleshooting

Buying and selling crypto is a fast and easy process; however, there's a slight chance you may encounter an issue. Here are some of the errors you might run into!

### Slippage

Slippage refers to the difference between the expected price of a trade when an order is placed and the actual price at which it is executed, caused by market fluctuations during transaction processing. On Moonshot, you can adjust your slippage between 0.5% and 20%.&#x20;

If your slippage is set too low and the token is volatile, you may receive an error message indicating that your slippage is too low. You can change your slippage using the button in the top-left corner of the buy/sell screen.

### An error occurred in the cloud

You may see this error pop up during an unsuccessful trade. This could mean one of two things:

1. Some of our Internal services may be down.
2. And in some rare cases, an unknown error occurred during the transaction process.

### A problem occurred on the blockchain

This uncommon error can result from a few different issues. The two main reasons are:&#x20;

1. The transaction was invalid before submission.
2. There was a smart contract error during confirmation.

#### If you encounter any of these errors at any time, please reach out to our support team!

# Fees

### Buys and sells <a href="#h_213688b393" id="h_213688b393"></a>

Moonshot takes a fee on each trade on our platform to cover administrative costs and provide a smooth experience. The fee can be broken down into the following parts:

1. Network fees: We cover dynamic gas and priority fees on your behalf to ensure that the network prioritizes your order and fills it within seconds. Buying a coin for the first time via blockchains with a "rent" model, such as Solana, will incur an additional one-time network fee.
2. Administrative fees: We charge a fee based on the size of your trade to cover the platform's infrastructure and growth costs.

#### Tiers <a href="#h_c50a6a0c0a" id="h_c50a6a0c0a"></a>

Fees are tiered based on the size of your trades with certain minimums.

| Trade size | Fee                         |
| ---------- | --------------------------- |
| $2-$100    | 2.5% with a \~$0.99 minimum |
| $100+      | 1%                          |

{% hint style="info" %}
By default, trades have a dynamic slippage tolerance of up to 5% to account for price volatility. This means that when placing a trade to buy $100 of a coin, you may receive $95-$105. You can manually change your slippage tolerance by clicking the settings icon at the top left of the buy/sell modal.
{% endhint %}

### Deposits and withdrawals <a href="#h_b36cf800de" id="h_b36cf800de"></a>

Our partner, MoonPay, Inc., charges a fee on each deposit and withdrawal, which varies depending on your payment method. For a complete breakdown, please see their [Fee Documentation](https://support.moonpay.com/customers/docs/all-supported-payment-methods#what-are-the-fees-with-moonpay).

### Sends <a href="#h_499dd62cf1" id="h_499dd62cf1"></a>

Moonshot does not take an administrative fee for sends. The fee can be broken down into the following parts:

1. Network fees: We pay dynamic gas and priority fees on your behalf to ensure that the network prioritizes your transaction and confirms it within a few seconds. Sending coins to new users via blockchains with "rent" features, such as Solana, will incur an additional one-time network fee.

# Slippage

Slippage refers to the difference between the expected price of a trade when an order is placed and the actual price at which it is executed, caused by market fluctuations during transaction processing.

## Moonshot's role <a href="#h_873ddd947e" id="h_873ddd947e"></a>

Moonshot is not an exchange; it’s a self-custody blockchain wallet that lets you interact with decentralized exchanges (DEXs) on the blockchain through Jupiter Aggregator, a smart contract that routes through several DEXs for better pricing. Instead of using traditional order books, these platforms rely on automated market makers (AMMs) and liquidity pools to process trades.

For a better understanding of decentralized exchanges and automated market makers, check out[DEXs](/trade/dexs).

## Example <a href="#h_349119e38e" id="h_349119e38e"></a>

By default, Moonshot applies a dynamic slippage tolerance of up to 10% to accommodate market volatility. For example, if you’re purchasing $100 worth of a coin, you may receive coins valued between $90 and $110, depending on market conditions at the time of execution.

## Adjusting slippage <a href="#h_3905c5a396" id="h_3905c5a396"></a>

You can modify the slippage tolerance from 0.5% to 20% by clicking the settings icon in the buy/sell modal.

<figure><img src="https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/flia4w7b/1386123784/2369c3f1e4a19b4a95304de4db9a/IMG_5653.jpg?expires=1745280000&#x26;signature=1865833cb6152f06837afdb02af1c318358f96676b3f0b217d5532313a0013b1&#x26;req=dSMvEMh8noZXXfMW1HO4zaVCbm%2Bfg0iR0xx6TZCsrNxGvNjLRu9qAIPrhED5%0AFA3diH%2BcrbMmXAX8oTw%3D%0A" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Change these settings at your own risk; you are responsible for your transactions.
{% endhint %}

## Slippage vs. price impact <a href="#h_8bfdbdabbe" id="h_8bfdbdabbe"></a>

Price Impact refers to how your trade affects the market price, particularly for large orders relative to the coin’s liquidity. Placing a significant order can consume a substantial portion of the available liquidity, potentially pushing the price up or down, which may result in you paying more or receiving less than the price displayed when you place your order.

### Example of price impact <a href="#h_1149baa7e5" id="h_1149baa7e5"></a>

Placing a large buy order in a low liquidity market can increase the coin’s price as you compete for a limited supply. Similarly, a large sell order can decrease the price due to increased supply.

### Reducing price impact <a href="#h_0e6ff61a99" id="h_0e6ff61a99"></a>

To minimize price impact on a large position, people often split their trade into smaller transactions. This can help distribute the effect over time or across different price points, reducing market movement caused by your order.

## Summary: <a href="#h_378852c50b" id="h_378852c50b"></a>

1. Slippage affects all traders, but is more noticeable in volatile markets or with low-liquidity coins.
2. Price impact typically only affects very large trades in relation to market liquidity.
3. High slippage tolerance increases the likelihood of execution but may result in a worse price.
4. Low slippage tolerance can cause failed transactions.
5. During periods of high volatility, you may need to increase your slippage tolerance to ensure your transaction is processed successfully.

# DEXs

## What is a decentralized exchange (DEX)? <a href="#h_f04cc3667a" id="h_f04cc3667a"></a>

A decentralized exchange (DEX) is a platform that allows users to trade cryptocurrencies directly with one another without relying on a central authority. Instead of a company managing transactions, trades happen through smart contracts on the blockchain, making the process automated and trustless.

#### Liquidity pools <a href="#h_da32f5ce3c" id="h_da32f5ce3c"></a>

Traditional exchanges typically utilize order books, where buyers and sellers submit bids and await a match. In contrast, DEXs rely on liquidity pools—pools of coins supplied by users—to enable instant trades.

**Here’s how it works:**

1. Users deposit coins into a liquidity pool, making them available for trading.
2. When a trade is executed, coins are swapped directly with the pool, rather than with another trader.
3. Prices adjust automatically based on supply and demand in the pool.

This system allows trades to be executed at any time, provided there is liquidity in the pool.

#### Automated Market Makers <a href="#h_1aa8601e20" id="h_1aa8601e20"></a>

An automated market maker (AMM) is the system that powers most decentralized exchanges. Instead of matching buyers and sellers, AMMs use mathematical formulas to determine coin prices based on the ratio of assets in the liquidity pool.

With an AMM, trades do not require a counterparty to be present simultaneously. Prices fluctuate based on liquidity levels and the size of a trade.

## Moonshot is NOT an exchange <a href="#h_170fe5ed63" id="h_170fe5ed63"></a>

Moonshot is not an exchange; it is a self-custody blockchain wallet that enables users to interact with DEXs through the Jupiter Aggregator, a smart contract that routes swaps across multiple DEXs to secure better prices. Moonshot submits your transactions to the blockchain, where they interact directly with Jupiter's smart contracts.

Moonshot does not hold user funds or act as a counterparty in any trade.

## AMMs vs. other exchange models <a href="#h_074c0a0533" id="h_074c0a0533"></a>

Some exchanges, both centralized and decentralized, use order books, where trades are executed when a buyer and seller agree on a price. This system depends on active market participation.

AMMs operate differently by utilizing liquidity pools, where trades interact with a pool of assets rather than a direct counterparty. Prices adjust algorithmically based on supply and demand within the pool.

Larger trades may have a more significant influence on prices, depending on the available liquidity.

# Leverage

### What leverage is

Leverage lets you trade with more capital than you actually hold; basically, you’re borrowing funds to amplify your position. On Moonshot, leverage can boost your buying power and potential profits, but it also magnifies your exposure. The higher your leverage, the faster both gains and losses can stack up. Managing leverage isn’t just about chasing upside; it’s about knowing your limits, setting smart stop-losses, and understanding that bigger swings cut both ways.

### Leverage trading 101

Think of leverage trading like taking a position on the price movement of a token without having to actually buy it.|

Let's break it down: Imagine you want to gain exposure to possible Bitcoin price appreciation, but you don't want to buy actual Bitcoin. With leverage trading, you can establish that position!

**The key things that make leverage trading special:**

1. **No end date:** Unlike regular futures contracts that expire on a specific date, leverage trades can be held as long as you want.
2. **Directional trading:** You can take a long position (going "long") if you believe the price will go up, or you can take a short position (going “short”) if you believe the price will go down.&#x20;
3. **Using leverage:** You can control a large amount with just a small deposit. For example, with 10x leverage, $100 could let you control $1,000 worth of Bitcoin exposure.

**Here's an example:** If Bitcoin is currently worth $50,000. You think it may go up in price.

* You put $500 into a contract with 10x leverage
* This gives you exposure to $5,000 worth of Bitcoin price movements
* If Bitcoin goes up 10% to $55,000, your position would be worth $5,500
* Your profit would be $500 (a 100% return on your $500)
* But if Bitcoin drops 10%, you'd lose your entire $500

The prices of leveraged trades track the actual asset price through a clever system called "funding rates," in which traders on one side sometimes pay small fees to those on the other.

The biggest advantage is that you can keep this position open as long as you want - there's no deadline to close it, as long as you have enough money in your account to maintain the position.

### Market orders made simple

#### What is a Market Order?

A market order is a straightforward way to buy or sell digital assets at the current best available price. When you place a market order, it executes immediately using whatever prices are currently available in the marketplace. If your entire order can't be filled at once, any unfilled portion is automatically canceled.

#### How to Place a Market Order:

1. Select whether you want to "Buy" or "Sell"
2. Enter the amount you wish to trade, or adjust the leverage slider to your preferred level

#### Closing a Position

Your positions are located in the Holdings tab in your Moonshot app under “Leverage.” Select a position to place a market order and close the position.

### Leverage limits

Moonshot offers leverage of up to **250x** on **SOL**, **ETH**, and **BTC**. You can adjust your leverage based on your position size and personal risk tolerance. Higher leverage increases your potential returns, but it also raises your exposure, meaning even small price moves can lead to liquidation if the market turns against you. Always choose a leverage level that aligns with your strategy and risk comfort.

### Risks with leverage

Leverage doesn’t just turn up the volume on your trades; it turns up the stakes. When you borrow to amplify a position, even small market moves work against a smaller cushion of your own capital. That means your cash can be wiped out quickly if the price moves the wrong way. Positions can be liquidated if your collateral can’t cover the losses, and in high-leverage setups, that can happen faster than you expect.\
\
Using leverage responsibly isn’t about avoiding risk altogether; it’s about understanding that total loss is a real possibility. Know your liquidation levels, size your positions thoughtfully, and only use leverage on capital you’re prepared to lose.

# Liquidation

### What are liquidations?&#x20;

Leverage is like strapping a rocket booster to your trading capital. It’s your fuel - the more you use, the faster and further you can go. But with increased power comes a greater risk of absolute catastrophic failure.

Liquidation happens when the market moves against your position, and your account balance falls below the minimum required level (called the maintenance margin) needed to keep your position open.

### How it works

1. **You open a position** with leverage (borrowing trading power)
2. **Market moves against you** (price drops when you expected it to rise, or vice versa)
3. **Your margin gets depleted** as losses increase
4. **When your margin falls too low**, Moonshot automatically closes your position to prevent you from losing more than you deposited.

This protective measure ensures you don't end up owing money you don't have.

### Tips to avoid liquidation&#x20;

* **Start small with leverage** – Higher leverage means less wiggle room before liquidation.
* **Monitor your margin ratio** – Keep an eye on how close you are to the liquidation threshold. You want to take action before you're running on empty.
* **Don't YOLO your life savings** – Only use funds you can afford to lose
* **Stay informed:** Market volatility can quickly change your position's status

Remember: Even experienced traders may face losses. There's no shame in closing a position early to fight another day!

### Margin Status Alerts: Your Early Warning System

**Staying Informed**

Moonshot keeps you updated on your position's health with real-time notifications:

* Warning - when margin falls below 50%: You'll see a caution alert on the Moonshot platform - this is your first heads-up that your position may need attention.
* Danger - when margin falls below 25%: A more urgent alert appears, signaling that you're approaching the critical threshold - a good time to take action.
* Liquidation - 0%: Liquidation process begins automatically.

Think of these alerts like warning lights - the earlier you address them, the more options you have. However, be aware that in volatile market conditions, these warnings can trigger in rapid succession within minutes or even seconds. You can add funds, reduce your position size, or close your position entirely to avoid automatic liquidation, but you may have very limited time to react before your margin status deteriorates further.&#x20;

The notification system is designed to give you enough time to make informed decisions rather than being caught by surprise. Keep your notifications enabled when you have open positions!

<br>

# Fees

When you trade with leverage, you pay two types of fees. The **transaction fee** is a flat charge each time you open or close a position. The **borrowing fee** accrues over time based on the amount you’ve borrowed. Together, they make up the total cost of trading with leverage.

### Transaction fees

| Trade size | Fee                        |
| ---------- | -------------------------- |
| $5-$100    | 0.20% with a $0.25 minimum |
| >$100      | 0.10%                      |

{% hint style="info" %}
Fees subject to change - see [Terms](https://moonshot.com/terms) for more

When you open a leveraged position, you’re borrowing from a liquidity pool to increase your exposure. That borrowing comes with a cost: **borrowing fees,** designed to reward liquidity providers for supplying assets and to keep the system healthy as traders take on leverage.\
\
Instead of long vs. short funding payments, as some exchanges do, we use a straightforward borrow-fee model. Borrowing fees compound hourly based on the amount you’ve borrowed, and may change over time based on market conditions. \
\
These are outstanding fees that are accumulated over the total time your position is open, and are paid the next time you modify or close your position. If unpaid fees get too close to your position's value, your position will be liquidated to cover them.&#x20;

# Eligible traders

### Who can trade?

Due to regulations, leverage trading on Moonshot isn't available everywhere and is subject to eligibility requirements and restrictions. We follow the rules, which means our platform is only open to traders outside of Canada, UK, US and certain other restricted regions.  We do not allow activity in these countries, and are not subject to regulation or examination by these authorities. &#x20;

Using VPNs to bypass geo-restrictions violates our Terms, so keep it real!

### On the move?&#x20;

**Traveling to an Ineligible Region**

If you travel to a region where our leverage trading isn't available:

* Your account switches to spectator mode 👀
  * You can watch your trades, but you can’t manage or adjust them
  * Open positions remain active, meaning they could still move against you

Think of it like your account’s gone off to St. Barts for a little R\&R—you can sip the view, but you can’t jump in the pool. While your positions remain open, they’re still subject to market swings and possible liquidation. Since you won’t be able to take action until you’re back in an eligible region, it’s important to understand the potential risks of being locked out while markets keep moving.

**Moving Permanently?**

If you're relocating for good to a place where we don’t offer leverage trading, contact our support team at <support@moonshot.money>.
